As an Accounting Graduate Student Intern, you will support Camgian’s Finance & Contracts department across budgeting, forecasting, project accounting, audit support, and compliance initiatives. This role provides hands-on exposure to federal contracting accounting requirements, cost tracking, financial analysis, internal controls, and operational finance within a high-growth defense technology environment.

This is a part-time position based out of our headquarters in Starkville, MS designed for graduate students who are detail-oriented, intellectually curious, and eager to build a strong foundation in applied accounting while continuing their graduate studies. This is a paid internship, with an expectation of 20 hours per week during the summer semester, and with an option to extend the internship through the fall and spring semesters.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in the MSU Adkerson School of Accountancy.
  • Expected B.S. in Accounting with a completion date in Spring 2026.
  • Intention to pursue Master of Professional Accountancy or Master of Taxation.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel (lookups, pivot tables, basic formulas).
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential financial data with discretion.
Desired Skills
  • Familiarity with accounting concepts such as accruals, revenue recognition, and cost allocation.
  • Interest in government contracting, auditing, and internal controls.
  • Exposure to accounting systems.
  • Willingness to learn FAR/DFARS requirements and DCAA audit expectations.
  • Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with monthly close tasks, including expense reviews, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Support accounts payable coding, invoice review, and verification of supporting documentation.
  • Help update and maintain fixed asset records, lease schedules, and depreciation tracking.
  • Assist with preparation of journal entries and financial schedules.
  • Help maintain audit-ready documentation for credit card transactions, expense reports, timekeeping, and project costs.
  • Assist with the development of automated financial processes and documentation improvements.
  • Support data validation, cleanup, and process standardization efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
